ROOTS & Government Inclusion Priorities

Helping schools keep children in mainstream education

ROOTS is a movement-based, trauma-informed early-intervention programme that keeps pupils engaged in learning and reduces exclusions. Developed by a qualified social worker with extensive safeguarding experience, ROOTS provides trusted relationships, positive peer connection and strengths-based activities.

Supports pupils with SEND/SEN: ROOTS is fully aligned with the SEND Code of Practice, helping schools meet statutory duties and inclusion targets. It supports pupils with SEND—particularly those with social, emotional, or neurodivergent needs—by providing inclusive, movement-based sessions that help them remain engaged in mainstream education.

Why this matters now:

The Department for Education is clear: “We want more children supported in mainstream schools, with early help to prevent exclusion.”

ROOTS is ready to help your school meet the government’s call to keep children in mainstream education—today.
